Calcitonin, salmon, also known as salmon calcitonin, is a calcitonin drug. Calcitonin is a peptide hormone secreted by thyroid C cells that inhibits calcium transfer in bones and lowers blood calcium levels. The main use of salmon calcitonin is to treat diseases such as osteoporosis, bone pain, and hypercalcemia.
